HMS Naiad was a British second-class cruiser of 3400 tons displacement launched in 1890. The name entered the British navy with the capture of the French Naiade in April 1783.
Research Naiad
The Naiade was a French Simonot type Sirene Class submarine of 548 tons displacement surfaced launched in 1925. The Naiade was powered by two sets of 2-cycle Sulzer diesel engines providing a top speed of 14 knots surfaced and 7.5 knots submerged and a range of 3200 km at 10 knots on the surface, and carried a complement of 40. She could dive to a depth of 45 fathoms. Armaments consisted of one 3-inch anti-aircraft gun; two machine-guns and seven 21.7 inch torpedo tubes.

The Naiade was an Italian Sirena Class coastal submarine of 590 tons displacement launched in 1933. The Naiade was powered by diesel engines providing a top speed of 14 knots surfaced and 8.5 knots submerged and could dive to a depth of 50 fathoms. She carried a complement of 41 and was armed with one 3.9 inch gun; two 13 mm anti-aircraft guns and six 21 inch torpedo tubes.
