Ceratosaurus was a carnivorousdinosaur of the Jurassic period. Remains of Ceratosaurus were first found in the same quarry where remains of Allosaurus were discovered, in the USA in 1884. Ceratosaurus was about 6 metres long, walked on its hind legs, had massive sharp fangs and a horn on its nose. Plesiosaurus was a genus of long-necked Plesiosaur. Plesiosaurus was a marine reptile (very similar to a dinosaur, and libing at the same time but in the sea) that lived during the Mesozoic Period. It had a long neck, short tail, small head and four paddle-like limbs. Remains of a Plesiosaurus have been found in a quarry at Harbury in Warwickshire, England. Research Plesiosaurus
Bath stone (Bath-Olite, roe-stone) is a species of limestone once used for building and found in the Lower Oolite in Wiltshire and Somerset, England. It is easily wrought in the quarry, but hardens on exposure to the air. It was called 'Bath' stone because several of the quarries were near to the city of Bath. Research Bath Stone
Carnforth (recorded in the Domesday Book as Chreneforde) is a town on the River Keer in Lancashire, England. The town grew following the opening of the LancasterCanal in 1797 which stimulated the local quarry industry, and by 1857 the railway line provided connection to the iron mining district of Furness.
