Originally an amateur boxer, Ray Winstone first appeared as a youth in a 1975 epsidoe of television series 'The Sweeney' before playing the role of 'Carlin' in the 1979 film 'Scum' ad later the role of 'Will Scarlet' in the 1984 television series 'Robin of Sherwood'.
