REUTERS

Reuters is a news agency. It was founded in 1851 at the London Royal Exchange by Paul Reuter - who had previously been supplying newspapers from an office in Aix-la-Chapelle, but wasn't successful until adopted by the Times in 1858. Today Reuters is famous as perhaps the premier news agency supplying news stories to the worlds newspapers and broadcasters.

IAN FLEMING

Ian Fleming was an English novelist. He was born in 1908 at London and died in 1964. After working as foreign correspondent for Reuters in Moscow from 1929 to 1933 he became a banker and stockbroker. During the Second World War he was an intelligence officer, and based upon his experiences he wrote novels about the secret agent 'James Bond', which have been made into a succession of successful action films.

PAUL REUTER

Paul Julius Reuter was a German newsman. He was born in 1816 at Kassel and died in 1899. In 1849 he established at Aix-la-Chapelle an office from which he supplied newspapers to all parts of the world. In 1851 he became a naturalized Englishman and established at the London Royal Exchange the Reuter's news agency, which wasn't successful until adopted by the Times in 1858. In 1865 Reuters was converted into a limited liability company.
