The Tanguts are a nomadic, pastoral Tibetan people of the Kan-su province of China.

Tze-His was Dowager empress of China. She was born in 1835 at Beijing and died in 1908. She entered the seraglio of the emperor Hien-fung at the age of fifteen, and by her beauty and wit soon rose to be second to the empress Tze-an. On the death of Hien-fung in 1861, her son, Tung-Chih came to the throne, but during his reign and that of his successor, Kwang-su, Tze-His wielded the imperial power. Assisted by Li Hung-chang she ruled wisely and successfully until the war with Japan in 1894-1895, after which she sought to introduce western reforms and succeeded in suppressing the opium trade.

The 85 mm M39 was a Soviet anti-aircraft gun first produced in 1939 and still in use in the 1970s. As well as being used as an anti-aircraft gun, the guns were also mounted in AFVs when required, including the SU-85 assault gun. The
85 mm M39 fired a 20 lb high-explosive or anti-tank shell to an effective ceiling of 7620 metres with a muzzle velocity of 800 meters-per-second.

The D-44 is a Soviet 85 mm calibre anti-tank and field gun fitted to the T-34/85 tank, the SU-85 and ASU-85 weapons, as well as being used an infantry support weapon. The D-44 was developed towards the end of the Second World War, has a muzzle velocity of 792 meters-per-second firing high-explosive rounds and 1030 meters-per-second firing high-velocity AP ammunition and can penetrate 130 mm of armour at 1000 metres.

The SU-100 is a Russian tank destroyer/assault gun developed during the Second World War and still in use in the 1970s. It is based upon the T-34 tank chassis and has a top speed of 55 kmh, and is armed with a 100 mm main gun and a machine-gun.

The SU-122 was a Soviet medium assault gun of the Second World War. It was armed with a 121.92 mm M-30 howitzer carried on a chassis and lower hull based on those of a KV heavy tank, and was manned by a crew of five. The SU-122 had a top speed of 55 kmh and a range of 190 km.

The SU-152 was a Soviet heavy assault gun of the Second World War. It was armed with a 152.4 mm ML-20 howitzer and manned by a crew of five. The SU-152 had a top speed of 43 kmh and a range of 165 km.

The SU-76 (SU-15) was a Soviet light self-propelled gun of the Second World War. It was armed with a 76.2 mm ZIS-3Sh gun. It had a top speed of 45 kmh and a range of 190 km and was manned by a crew of four.

The SU-85 was a Soviet medium tank destroyer of the Second World War. It was armed with a 85 mm D-5S gun and manned by a crew of four. The SU-85 had a top speed of 55 kmh and a range of 150km.
