A tsunami or tidal wave as they are popularly known, is a seismic sea wave originating from any one of several submarine geological phenomena, such as volcanic explosions or earthquakes. They travel in the open ocean at speeds up to 640 kmh. On Boxing Day 2004, (the 26th December 2004) an earthquake measuring 9.0 on the Richter Scale occurred under the sea off the coast of Sumatra. The Caecilia is an order of small, legless, amphibians of which comparatively little is still known. Species are either terrestrial or aquatic. Terrestrial species tending to eat earthworms, while the aquatic species may also feed on dead fish. The largest of all Caecilians is Caecilia thompsoni of Colombia and Ecuador. It reaches a length of more than 150 cm, while Grandisonia larvata of the Seychelles Islands is the only known specimen of 10 cm or less in length. The Fregate Island Beetle (Polposipus herculeanus) is a beetle found only on Fregate Island in the Seychelles where it lives in cracks and crevices of trees and rotting logs. The larvae fed on decaying wood, the adult beetles feed on fruit, fungi and leaves. At the start of the 21st century the Fregate Island Beetle was almost extinct in the wild.
