A tiara was an ancient Persian head-dress (hence the name which in Greek means a Persian head-dress). Originally worn by the ancient Persian kings and magi, the tiara was adopted by the Romans for both men and women, and in mediaeval times evolved into a lady's headband. By modern times the tiara had further evolved to include an erect front. The tiara is emblematic of purity and chastity. Research Tiara
