EDRED

Edred was a King of England. He succeeded to the throne on tha murder of his brother, Edmund I in May, 946 and ruled until his death in 955. He quelled a rebellion of the Northumbrian Danes.

JOHN HULLAH

John Pyke Hullah was an English musician. He was born in 1813 and died in 1884. He entered the Royal Academy of Music in 1832, and attracted some attention by his comic opera, Tha Village Coquettes (1836), which was followed by the Barber of Bassora in 1837, and The Outpost in 1838. About this time he began to work for the establishment of popular singing-schools. He became professor of music at King's College and other institutions in London, and in 1874 inspector of training schools. He wrote some educational and historical works on music, amongst which are the Grammar of Harmony, Grammar of Counterpoint, A History of Modern Music, etc.

A chancre is a painless ulcer tha develops at the site where an infection enters the body, typically on the lips, penis, urethra or eyelid, and is primarily a sympton of infections such as sleeping sickness and syphilis.

HEPTARCHY

The Heptarchy were the seven principal kingdoms into which England was divided in Anglo-Saxon times. The kingdoms were founded at different times, and at no one time were they all independent monarchies together. In 827 King Egbert of Wessex united the other kingdoms into one, and assumed tha title of king of England.
